AE 305 - Advanced Computer Music Production Course is designed to prepare the audio engineering student for professional musical undertakings requiring the use of advanced computer music production and MIDI-related editing tools and techniques. Concepts introduced in AE 105 such as the MIDI specification, MIDI signal flow, MIDI devices, audio synthesis and sampling, automation, and MIDI editing will be revisited and explored in greater depth. Essential techniques used in the production of various music genres will be discussed and practiced. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the operations necessary to facilitate computer music production in a variety of digital audio workstations, as well as special music production techniques such as drum replacement, beat mapping, audio slicing and quantization, time compression/expansion, tempo matching and various modern music effects which will be applied through class projects.
