AE 241 - Applied Keyboard Lessons for Audio Engineers

Individual lessons offered on the keyboard, with a focus on skills that are applicable and supplementary to audio engineering. Students will build and demonstrate these skills through one-on-one instruction including the traditional lesson format and applied music production applications, as well as individual practice. While areas of focus will vary depending on the interests and goals of the student, strong emphasis will be placed on practical music production skills such as fluently expressing musical ideas on the keyboard, hearing and accurately playing back musical passages, emulation of the performance of non-keyboard instruments, and performing musical passages in real time into a DAW timeline using a click. Students will also be able to perform chords, basic improvisation and typical keyboard accompaniment patterns based on chord symbols and Roman numerals, sight read basic notation and lead sheets, as well as perform in any key necessary.
Note:
May be repeated indefinitely.
